We'd also like to thank the other participants in this poll. Sometimes the poll is biased towards the end user. Of course, without the contributions of the other devs, we wouldn't have a stable Haiku OS, or a QT4 framework...
*Update - thanks to some generous donations in the last couple hours, we'll be sending all three members of the QT4 port team a Haiku Golf Shirt!
In the coming days I'll be taking down the 'Haiku Wifi Bounty' donate-o-meter' and replacing it with a Thank You Award one. I'd like to raise enough funds to continue the project for at least another year, which would require 6*37.50 = $225 minus whatever the current balance will be after awarding these prizes - stay tuned!

@industrialrobot You should be able to just watch the video on Ustream and then pull the .flv out of your temporary directory.

@fabsh I need mail order podcasting. Due to Telstra it will take months to get Internet at my new house - the middle of an ADSL2 area!
@fabsh I can go to McDonalds to look at my favorite German pr0n any time with their free WiFi. Have 5GB/month free 3G from work. $80 worth.
Great seeing more talk about #haiku-os and nearly everybody seems to agree there is a lot of potential. A2/Beta 1 soon! http://ur1.ca/iccf

@notmyfuckingidentica Have fun with Haiku. There is important userland stuff missing but active ports/development for most things.
@notmyfuckingidentica I totally agree. They just need more developers! Haiku has an absolutely huge amount of potential.
@notmyfuckingidentica Qt already works btw. Not perfect but it works well enough. Won't be too long until it is fully functional.
@notmyfuckingidentica It would be pretty hard, but not impossible seeing as KDE does not rely on X. I think there is an x11 port though.
@notmyfuckingidentica I think Qt/KDE is welcome on Haiku and can integrate well but GTK/Gnome would be sad.

@brainspoil I think that the GPL does hold Linux back sometimes, but at the same time I don't want Linux to be not under GPL.

Found code for the #ATmega based "MakerBot Watch" - it can play songs! There is TopGun, MASH, IndianaJones, Simpsons... http://ur1.ca/inpr
Awesome, !HaikuOS is getting WPA added to the #WiFi stack, judging by this #source activity. http://www.haiku-os.org/aggregator/sources/5
@basus I wouldn't worry - I bet you were A grade, but the personal preferences or scoring habits of the assessor overshadowed your work.
@arun86 This is an automated response: Test failed. Please pack up your computer and send it back to the manufacturer.
@basus I never seem to draft enough, mainly because I procrastinate and don't finish quick enough or I get into feature creep.

Colin writes up a summary of his work on Haiku's Wifi Stack and our bounty's guidelines in his blog. He also talks about the future of the project, and the possibility of support for encrypted networks within a year :)
Colin went beyond the bounty's guidelines. He finished it early, and not only made all the drivers compile, but execute as well. The following is a list of all the drivers supported:
-
aironetwifi supporting at least
- Cisco Aironet 350 Series
- Aironet PCI4500
- Aironet PCI4800
- atheroswifi supporting almost every chipset outthere (though no AR9285 chips)
-
broadcom43xx supporting
- BCM4301, BCM4306, BCM4307, BCM4309, BCM4311, BCM4312 and BCM4318
- iprowifi2100 supporting the 2100 chips
-
iprowifi2200 supporting
- 2200BG
- 2225BG
- 2915ABG
- iprowifi3945 supporting the 3945 chips
- iprowifi4965 supporting the 4965 chips
-
marvell88w8335 supporting
- Marvell Libertas 88W8310
- Marvell Libertas 88W8335
- marvell88w8363 supporting the 88W8363 chips
-
ralinkwifi supporting
- RT2560
- RT2561S
- RT2561
- RT2661
-
wavelanwifi supporting at least
- 3Com Airconnect
- GLPRISM2 WaveLAN
- Intersil Prism3
- Intersil Prism2.5
- Linksys WDT11
- Netgear MA301
- PRISM2STA WaveLAN
- Siemens SpeedStream
- SMC 2602W
- Us Robotics 2415
- Addtron AWA-100 PCI
An interesting read...
Also, he has submitted an easy to install Intel (1000, 5000 & 6000 series) wireless driver with firmware here (no encryption).
On be half of the Haiku community, and bounty program, I'd like to thank Colin for his work, timely and fulfilled execution of the bounty, and general professionalism. It was a pleasure seeing this follow through.
Thanks!
